What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the awareness you achieve whilst purposefully paying attention, focusing on the present moment, and – very importantly- you do this without judging the experience.
Mindfulness is a skill you gain through the training of your attention. Attention is like a muscle that you can train to become stronger. Developing Mindfulness enables you to focus on what you want to and not be caught up in thoughts that intrude, especially when you don't want them to. This in turn will reduce stress and create resilience.
What is resilience?
“Resilience is a dynamic, evolving process of positive attitudes and effective strategies” (Jensen et al., 2008)
Gaining resilience decreases psychological distress. Without resilience our state of being is subject to burnout. Burnout is a common response to chronic emotional stressors related to work experiences. Compassion fatigue is a type of burnout, particularly evident among health care professionals.
What is coaching?
Coaching is a professional relationship in which the coach assists, guides and enables clients to achieve a personal goal in one or more areas of their life or work.
Coaching can be carried out individually or in a group, and with a personal and/or professional goal.
