Creative Awareness

Half-Full Day workshops, created and conducted by Dr Ira van der Steenstraten in collaboration with visual artist Priscilla Jean of Priscilla's Art Gallery

Creativity is a word that is used in many different ways and just the word itself can stir up a whirlpool of emotions. As children we feel free to use our imagination and creativity but once we become rationally thinking and acting adults, many of us feel we have lost the ability to use our creativity that freely.

Creativity is the ability of turning imaginative ideas into reality. It can be related to creating pieces of art but it can also mean being flexible in how you respond to the challenges life throws at you, how you cope with (difficult) situations. Having a variety of coping styles can empower you. It can mean you have the creativity to become more flexible in your reactions

You can become more creative by becoming more aware. This means you can see things in new ways. You can make (new) connections, generate (new) solutions.

The Creative Awareness workshops can help you to become more Mindfully Aware. This is done through creative and Mindfulness exercises.

The next 'Creative Awareness' workshop will be on Thursday 1 September 2016, 10 am - 2.30 pm at the Old School House Gallery, 124-126 Shore Street North, Cleveland QLD 4163.
